"I am not great at blowing my own trumpet, but the website guys and girls said I had to, so here goes!

Every company I've ever been fortunate enough to be involved with either as an Executive or Non Executive Director has been full of great people, which has made my job really easy.

When great people need a little bit of outside focus, it's no big deal, it's the fact that you're doing the day-to-day and sometimes figuring out the medium and long term is a little trickier. I enjoy challenges when great people with great businesses need to dig themselves out of a situation or move in a new direction.

I am obsessed with doing the right things for a business and have found that a healthy obsession is infectious. Everybody wants to serve customers and delight them and we all want to succeed.

I don't know how much I've helped the companies I've been involved with. I just turn up for meetings and talk about interesting stuff and help with planning and strategy. It's the directors themselves who are the stars, but they keep paying me compliments, so perhaps their talent and my bad jokes help the whole thing along.

As I often say, most of the time, I just stand at the front waving the company's flag"
